Description
Prico Polikala is a Greek aperitivo that borrows its name from the Kefalonian dialect where prico means bitter. It is actually a bitter alcoholic 11% alcoholic grade with strong citrus aromas. In them, a number of herbs and ingredients such as ginger, absinthe, sage, laurel, angelica, cinnamon, vanilla, chamomile and many more are extracted to complement a botanical complexity and depth as a proper must-have aperitivo.

Polykala traces back to 1897, when Vassilis Polykalas, a vintner from Lixouri on Kefalonia, began collecting and refining liqueur recipes from around Greece, writing his improvements into private recipe books. His products' growing reputation eventually took the business to Athens, where it remains today, now run by the fourth generation, Rena Polykala, alongside her father Giorgos. The same recipes from the original 'V. Polykalas' notebooks — now marketed as the 1897 Collection — still form the backbone of the range, including specialities like Prico, a bitter Kefalonian aperitivo, and Tentura, the spiced liqueur of nearby Patras.
