Deep ruby with granite highlights. Intense fragrant bouquet of aromatic herbs such as oregano, sage & eucalyptus jam black fruit, sweet spices, olive, chocolate and black pepper. Smoke notes and skin. In the mouth complex, full body with well-worked tannins and intense feel licorice in the aftertaste. Aging Dynamics, more than 10 years. Pairs with: Rich Red Meat Dishes, Game, Lamb, Ewe, Ripe Yellow Cheeses, Cold cuts, Sausages, Dishes with Mushrooms. Pate & Foie gras.

Mavrodaphne
Mavrodaphne, meaning black laurel in Greek, is indigenous to Achaea region in Northern Peloponnese. It produces almost opaque, dark coloured red wines and represents flavours of caramel, chocolate, coffee, raisins and plums.
Producer
Zacharias is one of Nemea's oldest and largest private wineries, with roots going back to 1960 and vineyard plantings from 1962; the modern winery itself was established by agronomist Ilias Zacharias in the 1970s, drawing on French winemaking know-how. The family farms around 40 hectares across Nemea and Mantinia, working with thirteen grape varieties including Agiorgitiko, Assyrtiko, Moschofilero, Roditis, Kydonitsa and the rare Sklava alongside Mavrodaphne and international varieties, and is now in its second generation. Lexis is the winery's flagship range, sourced from the family's oldest vines at the foot of the citadel of ancient Fliounta.
