Limniona
Limniona is a red grape native to Thessaly that was down to a handful of vines before a single producer began bottling it alone in 2007, sparking a wider revival. It makes elegant, perfumed wines with silky tannins, moderate alcohol and bright acidity, showing red fruit, rose or violet, and a peppery spice that has drawn comparisons to Pinot Noir.

Kontozisis Organic Vineyards is a small estate near Kanalia, in the foothills of Mount Agrafa in Thessaly, central Greece. Andreas Kontozisis, together with his father and brother, founded it in 1991 — originally just to supply their own restaurant — by replanting and reviving more than a hundred small, often abandoned plots, and the estate has been certified organic ever since, among the very first in Greece to do so. Andreas now runs the 11–12 hectares with his partner Aphrodite Tousia, farming entirely by hand at low yields, with no commercial yeasts and no press — only free-run juice. Their main focus is Limniona, a once-forgotten indigenous red grape of Thessaly, alongside Malagousia, Roditis and Assyrtiko.
