DESCRIPTION
PGI Macedonia
From the variety of Roditis. the most cultivated white grape of Greece, this is a reference wine that takes the possibilities of the variety as far as it can be known. Its colour is deep gold and its nose reveals the true quality of the variety and the long vinification process, namely skin contact for 32 days at low temperatures, spontaneous fermentation with wild yeasts in open tanks and barrel ageing for 12 months. No sulphites are used at any stage of the winemaking and the wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered. The “sweetness” of the skin contact is perfectly tied up with the fresh aromas of cool fermentation, creating a complex aromatic bouquet, which is complemented by the ageing notes. As for its mouth, it is totally balanced with vivid acidity and perfectly integrated alcohol, supporting all the aromas and flavours throughout the tasting experience.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Grape
Roditis
This pink-skinned grape is one of the most cultivated white varieties of Greece. Though traditionally from Peloponnese region, now it garnishes vineyards in different regions such as Epirus, Patra, Attica and Peloponnese. It can produce well-structured wines with lemony color, fruity aromas and stimulating acidity. Winemakers have been recently exploring new styles, offering premium quality Roditis based wines.
Producer
Tatsis
Originally from Ano Vodeno of Eastern Romilia, an area steeped in viticulture, the refugee Tatsis grandfathers chose as their place of settlement during the population exchange of 1924 the small town of Goumenissa, an already developed viticultural centre that lies at the foot of Mountain Paiko, 65 km away from Thessaloniki. Since 1998 the vineyard is being cultivated and certified according to the regulations of organic farming and since 2002 follows the biodynamical principles. The vineyards are found on the hillock of Libaskerit and Gerakona, an ideal position for viticulture and the vines grow on calcareous, non-irrigated soil yielding a very modest production of about 3 to 7t/ha. All grapes come from the Estate, where also vinification and maturation take place.
