DESCRIPTION

PGI Macedonia

Medium lemon color and intense citrus aromas such as lemon, citron, grapefruit, and candied orange zest. Hints of peach, honey, and dried herbs compose a unique set. In the mouth, it has a medium body, crisp acidity, and a slightly oily texture. Ripe peach, quince, tangerine, citron, grapefruit, and kumquat meet on a floral background. You can pair it with curry shrimps, a green salad with roasted peaches and manouri, dolmades, or risotto with spinach and feta cheese.

Malagousia
Malagousia is an aromatic white variety grown primarily in Central Greece and Greek Macedonia. The variety was rescued from near extinction in 1983 by the winemaker Evangelos Gerovassiliou, after he planted out his vineyard at Epanomi, on the Halkidiki peninsula, with the variety.
Malagousia is best known for its citrus and peach characteristics, often showing various melon flavours on the palate. It is often used as a blending agent, most notably with Assyrtiko, to which it adds middle body weight.

Producer

Tatsis
Originally from Ano Vodeno of Eastern Romilia, an area steeped in viticulture, the refugee Tatsis grandfathers chose as their place of settlement during the population exchange of 1924 the small town of Goumenissa, an already developed viticultural centre that lies at the foot of Mountain Paiko, 65 km away from Thessaloniki. Since 1998 the vineyard is being cultivated and certified according to the regulations of organic farming and since 2002 follows the biodynamical principles. The vineyards are found on the hillock of Libaskerit and Gerakona, an ideal position for viticulture and the vines grow on calcareous, non-irrigated soil yielding a very modest production of about 3 to 7t/ha. All grapes come from the Estate, where also vinification and maturation take place.
