DESCRIPTION

100% Agiorgitiko, with the characteristics of the grape variety at the top. Deep, dark ruby colour with intensely fruity nose revealing cherries, forest fruits and baked raisins in balance with the more complex notes of vanilla, dried fruits and chocolate that comes from the long aging process in the oak barrels. Thick and aggressive tannins that require time to smooth. Without a doubt a wine that loves the bottle and demands ageing in the cellar to unfold its merits. Good with red meat, spicy sauces and steak.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Grapes

Agiorgitiko
Agiorgitiko is the quiet power grape of the Greek vineyard and of yet unexplored potential. It is not only the PDO grape of Nemea, the largest region with such status but has the fame that spreads throughout Greece and so does its cultivation. It is also the most marketed grape domestically, to the extent that one can find agents selling wines of Nemea anywhere in Greece, even in the heart of other dedicated wine-producing regions. It performs well in hot climates and gives a variety of styles.

Thick-skinned of variable size, depending on the clone and with around 8 clones available commercially today. It is potentially high yielding, late budding and late ripening.

Producer

Palivos

Palivou Estate owns one of the largest vineyards in the PDO zone of Nemea with more than 30 hectares, planted mostly with Agiorgitiko, but also with Rodites, Malagousia, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. The vineyards spread over different regions of Ancient Nemea, the most advantageous of which is located at 420 meters above sea level and are cultivated organically. The plane north winds, especially during the hot summer months, contribute to better health and slow ripening of the grapes. Various soil types and the particular microclimate of each location contribute to the variety and complexity of the wines produced by the Estate.
