DESCRIPTION
This blend of the two indigenous varieties of Epirus, Vlahiko and Bekari, creates an enviable dry red wine with a bursting aromatic character. The aromas of red and black fruits such as blackberry, black cherry and plum are predominant while freshly cut mushroom and spicy elements complete the complex aromatic profile. Its live maturing tannins and fresh acidity show that it is a wine with great ageing potential.

Bekari
Bekari is the second most characteristic and notable indigenous red wine grape variety of Epirus (after Vlachiko). It is more robust than Vlachiko and used in the production of the local rose and red wines of Ioannina (still and sparkling), while in many cases in combination with Vlachiko, as they form a perfect pair for the creation of balanced red wines, rich in blackberry and plum aromas.
Vlachiko
The predominantly indigenous red grape variety of Epirus, that has been cultivated for a very long time in the area of Zitsa at an altitude higher than 600 metres and in sloping limestone soils. It exhibits the characteristics of the cold climate in the mountainous regions where it is produced and which endures low temperatures, limited sunlight and regular rainfalls. The main characteristics of Vlahiko are the strong and distinct aromas of red forest fruits, the bright but not deep ruby colour, the discrete tannins, the high but good acidity and the velvety taste with lasting finish.
